Charles Rali

Sakhe Jele AKA Charles Rali has 15 years of experience in production, but mostly in postproduction. He’s worked for a number of leading production houses and broadcasters in SouthAfrica including the national broadcaster, SABC and the cable network, Mnet. He has edited numerous television shows. Some of the genres he has worked on include lifestyle, wildlife,kids, religious, talk shows and sports. He also directed some inserts (ENG) for two primetimemagazine shows called Mzansi Insider and StarGist. He’s also worked as a lead editor at Mnet studios where some of his responsibilities included packaging major shows like American Idols,The View, Oscars, BAFTAs and Grammys, also editing them for African distribution per region’s rules and regulations.

Sakhe Jele had an opportunity during the soccer world cup in 2010 to work as an assistant editor on a reality show produced by Ridley Scott & Associates called Budhouse. He worked with the crew from Los Angeles; this inspired him to pursue directing. He then visited LA, shot and directed a pilot episode for a reality show. Upon his return to South Africa, he started an NGO (King Zukha) which seeks to impart filmmaking skills to underrepresented youth. Together with King Zukha NGO he has helped shoot three short films.

In 2016, Sakhe licensed his first feature length film called Ubuntu Bethu to Mzansi Magic (cable network) for 3 years. In 2019, he directed and edited a short film adapted from a published poetry book. Since then, Sakhe has written two feature length screenplays and continued to work in post production on a number of shows. Recently, he took up an internship with Meralta Films, a production house whose work has been nominated for Oscars. He is also a part of ESPN’s roster for freelance camera operators, this is where he shoots live sports on weekends for ESPN 3.
