ZUKHA ARTS COMMUNITY

King Zukha was founded in 2014 by Sakhe Jele aka Charles Rali in his quest to help impart skills in the entertainment industry to people from underrepresented areas, especially the young and impressionable people.King Zukha offers training and communities in the following areas cinematography, screenwriting, acting for both TV and stage, grip & electric, field sound, photography, make-up for TV, video editing and sound mixing. For a lot of the rural youth in South Africa, there’s hardly any extracurricular activities that bring boys and girls together. Things like sports require certain physical abilities making it less inclusive unlike creative art where for the most part, artists create from their head into the physical, visual and auditory world. Art is enjoyed by the young and old, this is why we have room for the older people as well, albeit the priority being the younger people who can still go on and have long careers in the industry should they have that much interest. Creating art can also teach the youth about the importance of the push and pull which they will end up dealing with in the workplace, irrespective of their chosen career.

Mission

Through our short films, we have been able to forge relationships that have led to business opportunities for some of our members. We believe that through the King Zukha initiative, we can directly and indirectly unearth a lot of young people’s talents and abilities. Moreover, our voice can be heard when we come together with our shared experience of not having access to technology and knowledge. Under King Zukha, we can disperse knowledge through our training programs and via online training tutorials and more. Our plan is to grant our members with access to the award winning performers, especially the older generation, to talk to us Via Zoom calls and sometimes in person
